Maximum likelihood separation of constant modulus signals
In this paper we derive a Newton scoring algorithm for the maximum likelihood separation and directionof-arrival estimation of constant modulus (CM) signals, using a sensors array. We present a rapidly converging scheme for the joint estimation of the signals and their directions, based on their CM property. We discuss initialization and show that the complexity is moderate. 2
متن کاملSeparation of zero/constant modulus signals
Zero/constant modulus (ZCM) signals are complex signals for which every sample is either zero or has modulus 1. Such signals arise after imprecise carrier-to-baseband conversion of binary {0;1}-modulated signals, or with intermittent phase-modulated signals. We consider the separation of linear superpositions of such signals using analytic techniques. An application is the separation of multipl...
متن کاملMaximum likelihood separation of phase modulated signals
In this paper we present a Newton scoring algorithm for the maximum likelihood separation and direction of arrival estimation of constant modulus signals, using a calibrated array. The main technical step is the inversion of the Fisher information matrix, and an analytic formula for the update step in the Newton method. We present the algorithm based on the derived update and discuss potential ...
متن کاملBlind Separation of Space-time Block Coded Signals via the Analytic Constant Modulus Algorithm
ABSTRACT Recent work has shown how the special structure of linear space-time block codes can be exploited for blind equalization or direct symbol estimation in MIMO wireless systems. In this paper, it is demonstrated that improved performance can be obtained by combining the information provided by the structure of the code together with a priori knowledge that the data symbols are constant mo...
متن کاملMaximum Likelihood Based Quantum Set Separation
In this paper we introduce a method, which is used for set separation based on quantum computation. In case of no a-priori knowledge about the source signal distribution, it is a challenging task to find an optimal decision rule which could be implemented in the separating algorithm. We lean on the Maximum Likelihood approach and build a bridge between this method and quantum counting. The prop...
